Great DVD Commentaries

A lot of dvd have commentary tracks. Not all of them are created equally though. The best ones you can just listen to without having to watch the action on screen. These ones come to mind rightaway:
  1. Ghostbusters - Harold Ramis, Ivan Reitman and Joe Medjuck deliver a very enjoyable and informative commentary. One of the first dvd's I bought that had a commentary track and still one of my favourites.
  2. Star Trek The Wrath of Khan / Star Trek 6 - The Undiscovered Country. Nicholas Meyer has great insights on writing and directing movies.
  3. Oliver Stone commentaries. Except for maybe the Nixon commentary, which contains a long passages of just silence, most of his commentaries are very insightfull and enjoyable to listen to. And just like Bob Ross, he has a 'relaxing' type of voice :)
  4. Almost Famous.
  5. Naked Gun series. Funny commentary by the writers/producers.

Good point. It seems a lot of movie commentaries waste their potential and are mostly pointless.

I'd really like to check out The Naked Gun one.
